Backstory
Marlow is an iridescent Luna Dragon whose long, flexible body flashes blue, teal, violet, and bronze when he turns beneath the lanterns of Nocturra. His broad, mothlike wings are better suited to short glides than heroic flights, which suits him fine: Marlow prefers traveling close enough to the ground to notice landmarks. He has spent years learning the safe routes between villages, bridges, and sheltered resting places, and he takes considerable pride in knowing which paths stay firm after rain.
Travelers sometimes mistake his careful manner for timidity. Marlow doesn't mind. He has guided enough lost visitors home to know that getting there matters more than looking impressive along the way. He keeps a collection of tiny route notes tucked beneath a loose stone at his favorite stopping place, although he claims he remembers every turn perfectly. When a path changes, he grumbles for days before mapping the new one. Still, if someone needs help finding their way, Marlow is usually the first to offer—even when it means missing his own supper.
