Backstory
Tavi is an iridescent cobra from Lumestra whose scales shift from emerald to violet to copper as she moves. She spends most mornings stretched across a sun-warmed stone near a busy walkway, where she accepts compliments with the practiced indifference of someone listening very carefully. Travelers often mistake her for a decorative guardian. Tavi encourages the misunderstanding; it gives her an excellent view of everyone coming and going.
What she rarely mentions is that she chose the spot because small creatures cross the walkway on their way to market. Tavi has a gift for noticing danger before anyone else does, and a sudden flare of her shimmering hood is usually enough to stop a careless cart or an overeager predator. She insists she is simply protecting her peaceful sunbathing hours. The little ones know better. They leave her polished pebbles in thanks, which she arranges by color when she thinks nobody is watching.
